Sensor Testing

Collaborating with students from Engineering, the proximity sensors have been prototyped and integrated into the wall assembly.  Based upon users' locations within the room, the lights suspended above the membrane will gradually dim and illuminate the fragile yet aggressive space.

"What's He Building In There?"

A glimpse of the scale and the scope of the project from our 1:1 mock up at school in anticipation of the installation next week. Forgive the poor quality, couldn't wait for the good shots to arrive!

Be sure to check the following website for more information on the exhibit!

A view we surely won't be getting at the Gladstone...

We would sincerely like to thank those patient and tireless volunteers that got us through this first build, namely:

Hanging out

Progress Report on the CUTMR installation

With respect to the development of the membrane, it has been slow, but positive. The functional properties of the various details are becoming more robust, and we are beginning to test the actual capabilities of the swath- how it deforms, how it breaks, how it spans when it is suspended and hanging.

Some of our experiments:

Manual testing

Contrasting the two languages of the installation

Ribbing

Setting up for the static tests

Testing under lit conditions.

Attempting point deformations in the z-axis

We anticipate some doubly-curved yumminess when the swath grows in our following trial!
