FLUX at Come Up To My Room 2016

January continues to be a busy month for the [R]ed[U]x Lab. While nearly simultaneously working on Flummox for TODO 2016, another [R]ed[U]x Lab team was working on Flux at the Gladstone's 2016 Come Up To My Room Exhibit.

Here are some of the shots of the CUTMR Flux installation serving as the central bar venue on the second floor of the Gladstone. As seen in the photos, the efforts of the team were appreciated by everyone and the work was quite a tactile and visually engaging project.

Flummox Making A Presence

Here are some images of Flummox at Pandemonium in the 2016 Toronto Design Offsite festival at the Junction. The team really pulled it together and once again, a vertically integrated group of students from the Department of Architectural Science executed an engaging design piece.

Flummox Team In Progress

Tirelessly working on the Flummox installation, the [R]ed[U]x Lab team was able to secure some space to get the project manufactured and assembled in time for the big install. As you can see in the photos, the number of hours crimping, wiring, and heating components began to mount up but it surely will be worth it in the end.

Flummox: Making the Vinyl Units

Thanks to Farah for creating this little video documenting how the Flummox team crafted each vinyl record into a base piece for the tessellated surface. Clearly from this video, there is a great deal of time and energy spent into making a single element even with all the conveniences of digital fabrication at our disposal!

Flummox Fabrication Continues

As the Flummox team continues to assemble its TODO 2016 installation for Pandemonium in the Junction, they have released another rendering and updated imagery on how their fabrication is coming along.
