Night Market Cart 2016 Putting It All Together

The [R]ed[U]x Lab team is quickly bringing all the components that they have developed and prototyped into the final cart. The reuse of the hardware and furniture from the 4th year studio renovation is one of the key features of this design. Though there is a bit of mental and physical effort in appropriating those components, the resourcefulness and creativity of the team shows in the refinement of the design details. Our students not only know how to bring an idea to reality - they're not afraid to get their hands dirty in the shop to make it happen.

Cumulus Clouds Leaves the Team Breathless

If one were to state that one of the installations consisted of capturing thousands of breaths from young men and women, there might be an HR (as in human rights) violation in the discussion. Fortunately the team was able to capitalize on the idea and used a combination of breaths and of course an air compressor.

Flummox Fabrication Continues

As the Flummox team continues to assemble its TODO 2016 installation for Pandemonium in the Junction, they have released another rendering and updated imagery on how their fabrication is coming along.

Mock Up Assembly

The adage "Think twice, cut once" is something the [R]ed[U]x Lab team completely embraces. Throughout the group's formation, the 1:1 mock-ups are often installed in the atria of the Department of Architectural Science at Ryerson University. This allows the team to identify any missing pieces, gaps in the production process, as well as understand the design at a full scale.

The team led by second and third years had a great deal of support from enthusiastic and invaluable student volunteers including [R]ed[U]x Lab veterans and energetic first year students.

Here are some additional images of the team creating and preparing pieces for the Sterilization wall.  The Architectural Science students, Tiffany, Kenan, Nathaniel, and Stephanie all really stepped up the fabrication game to make some kinetic connections and hardware integration work out.
