Restaurant Visits

Once again the [R]ed[U]x Lab team went out to meet the various restaurants they were paired with for the Stop Night Market event. This year the team was matched with (old friends) Woodlot and Table 17. We appreciate the time we were able to spend with these two restaurants as the team got to understand the perspectives of their chefs as they approached the cart design.

Expanding their student palettes beyond (the staples of a student diet) mac & cheese and canned food, some of the [R]ed[U]x Lab team enjoyed new experiences such as their first forays into oysters at the Woodlot. Special thanks go to Dave Haman once again for his continued support of [R]ed[U]x Lab and treating the team to an unforgetable dinner!

Best Foot Forward in Akimbo

The Best Foot Forward installation at the Stantec Window Gallery was posted up online on the Akimbo website.  Nice to see the installation in perspective with the rest of the former McGregor Sock Factory! We genuinely appreciate the help and support of not only the [R]ed[U]x Lab team that put it all together, but also the great hosts, Stantec, especially Karen and her team.

A Glimpse of Best Foot Forward

Here are a few images of the final preparations and completed assembly of the Best Foot Forward project installed at the Stantec Window Gallery.  Once again, it is great to see how the [R]ed[U]x Lab team was able to bring a virtual idea to built reality in such a brief period.

The priming and prepping continues...

The Stantec Gallery team has been very busy and given the fine balance of deadlines (most notably in what has been rumoured to be a rough second year studio), it would seem that the students have been able to get things assembled in a fairly decent rate. 

Here we have a few of the students priming the material including sorting out the contoured profiles and painting the internal structure to blend in with the laser cut cardboard.
