Night Market Cart 2016 Fabrication Commences

The [R]ed[U]x Lab team behind the 2016 Night Market Cart has been extremely productive in transitioning from creating scale prototypes on the laser cutter to the execution of full scale components on the CNC router. This also allowed the team to investigate a full scale mock-up of the heat shrink membrane with the re-purposed stools from the studio renovation in the Department of Architectural Science.

 

Working Away on Hope for Hearts

Another project currently underway is a backdrop for the Hope for Hearts Gala for SickKids which will be at the Granite Club this June. This resourceful and enthusiastic team developed an illuminated reception wall and currently is under development with a group of first and second year students in [R]ed[U]x Lab.

Night Market Cart 2016 Investigations

This year the [R]ed[U]x Lab Night Market cart will be led by Arnel. Similar to previous years where the design has utilized an upcycling model of operation with materials, this year the design will take advantage of the renovations currently underway in the Department of Architectural Science. Finding innovative ways to use some of the furniture and hardware from the old studio configuration provides an added life to what would have gone to a landfill. The team is currently experimenting with form and developing connections that make the design engaging with the palette of materials available.

Terrena at the AGO

Not to be outdone by its showing at the Gladstone Hotel at the GrowOp 2016 exhibition, Terrena was asked to be displayed at the Art Gallery of Ontario. As the first time [R]ed[U]x Lab had a piece presented in this esteemed venue, Cathy and her team ensured the entire Terrena installation could be redeployed.
