Yonge Street Window Installation - Design Concept

After being tasked with creating a window display within an abandoned storefront on Yonge Street, the design team created an initial concept which was then presented to the Downtown Yonge BIA. The following photos show initial renders, orthographic, and assembly drawings, illustrating key design elements and documenting materials and methods of fabrication.

Protest in the Park - Allan Gardens Site


The Protest in the Park display and sitting area will be located in Allan Gardens, a Toronto park which emerged as a popular gathering ground for protest during the mid-20th century. The team visited the site during the initial design process, in order to gain a better understanding of the people accessing/using the facilities, circulation, dimensions, and measurements.

Camp Winston Fabrication - Construction Day Two and Three

Students focused on installing the exterior stained wood cladding, polycarbonate windows and skylights, and the sliding barn door. Students experienced small unexpected design detailing challenges while onsite. For instance, to prevent water from entering the interior, students had to figure out how to flash the polycarbonate away from it. While maintaining the original design and the structural integrity of the building, the students overcame this challenge and offered spontaneous solutions.
