Hi, here are some images of early sketch models of our lamp. Essentially a translucent structure covered by a perforated membrane exists on the interior of the lamp and has trailing filaments which affect the shadows thrown from the bottom of the light. Outside of this there is a secondary tensile membrane which opens and closes around the interior via a kind of knuckle and pulley system. The desired effect is a stronger looking "shell" with a more jelly-like interior, much like many natural organisms have with an exo-skeleton.Monday, October 17, 2011

Wild. Love the shadows cast by the plastic tentacle bits. Can't wait to see it operate!
