SOL Interactive Shell - Prototypes

Students collaborated on the development of an interactive shell prototype, utilizing its ability to visually represent the design principles. This method not only helps to get an idea of the full sized project, but it also helps to bring opportunities for any design modifications.

Blob Chair - Collaborative Exercise Final Documentation

The students have accomplished the creation of the "Blob Chair" as part of the Collaborative Exercise. The chair fulfills the need for a new lounge area by introducing a space near the entrance atrium. Its unique design and functionality contribute to an inviting and stylish atmosphere.

MAB Installation - Final Documentation

 The students have successfully set up the MAB wall on-site. The light wall, situated in the prominent location of College Park, features it's interactive display of lights that create an immersive display. The pavilion offers an atmosphere that welcomes visitors to disconnect from the city around them and encourages a playful environment.

Traverse - Schematics

 Upon receiving the task of creating an installation for the window display at the Eaton Centre on Yonge Street, two teams of students embraced the opportunity to design something captivating. They worked together to produce design concepts, which was subsequently presented for the Downtown Yonge BIA. 

This team presented the idea of an installation that consists etched panels with imagery of architecture, landmarks, events, cultural icons, maps, and activities that are synonymous with Toronto.

Upon receiving the task of creating an installation for the window display at the Eaton Centre on Yonge Street, two teams of students embraced the opportunity to design something captivating. They worked together to produce design concepts, which was subsequently presented for the Downtown Yonge BIA. 

This team presented the idea of an installation that consists of an array of vertically swaying sticks that create a gradual wave motion to match the ideal length of a breath.


Prototypes were later developed to get a sense of how the mechanics of the wheels and fins would work.

MAB Installation- On-Site Production Day 2

 The fabrication team spent the second day on-site to pour the recycled glass into the polycarbonate sheets. The installation manipulates lighting in both natural and artificial environments with its utilization of its polycarbonate and recycled glass filled skin and lighting system.

MAB Installation- On-Site Production Day 1

 The fabrication team spent the first day on-site to assemble to installation. The day concluded with setting up the wall and base modules, as well as attaching the polycarbonate sheets on all sides. The lighting system was also programmed to end off the day.

MAB Installation - Assembly

 After finalizing the design, the plywood was precisely cut using the CNC machine, marking the next step in the fabrication process. With the base and wall pieces ready, the fabrication team began the construction of the modules. The modules were routed, sanded, and then painted before installing the LED lighting system.
